Balance is a river
Spiritual balance is a river. It flows through us. Unhappiness is a form of spiritual balance. Frustration is a form of spiritual balance. Anger and depression, denial, doubt, guilt, self-pity, hate: all forms of spiritual balance.  There are different balances, and it is best not to seek any of them. One does not really pass through the bardo of existence without experiencing a little bit of everything.

It's kind of like going to a restaurant where they have a very, very vast menu, and you just have to try everything. So in one lifetime you will try self-pity, in another hate, in another frustration, in another anger, because you just have to try everything on the menu. Dessert, of course, is different; the superconscious; to meld your consciousness with eternity; to be devoid of self-pity, anger, hate, frustration, even joy and love and oneness; to go beyond everything and nothing. Spiritual balance.
